PM facility disabled in Chat

Team Wiki strives to offer all users a supportive, nurturing, safe enviroment. In order to best be able to facilitate that enviroment in the chat room, the private messaging facility between members has been removed. The site private messaging facility remains.

Team Wiki (identifiable in the chat room by the blue "M" symbol next to their name) will continue to be able to communicate with members in this way. If you would like to have a private discussion with a member of Team Wiki, please send the member a site PM.

I wanted to share with you the main reason that we have felt it necessary to switch off the PM facility in old chat.

There have been increasing incidents in recent weeks of inappropriate use of the PM facility.

A typical example being a female member who is here for divorce support being pestered via PM by one or more male members (or vice versa).

A member had no control over unwanted PMs being launched when they were in chat for support and this was causing distress for some people.

We feel that it is better to allow people to make their own arrangements for 1 to 1 chat using MSN or similar chat programs.
