It appears that there is a significant error in the online form E provided by the MoJ.
Paragraph 2.20, which is supposed to produce totals, fails to reflect the minus figure of final liabilities entered earlier on, producing a simple mathematical error. If a party had significant debts or liabilities, they were not recognised or recorded on the electronic form, potentially inflating their true worth. Distorted net figures of applicants’ assets were therefore being produced.
Apparently, the online form E software has been miscalculating this particular section of the form since April 2014, meaning that potentially thousands of judgments may have been founded on incorrect calculations, although I suspect the actual numbers of those judgements directly affected will be just a handful.
If you used good old fashioned pen and paper to complete your form E, then this error does not affect you.
