Hi

i would like to see that any divorce request can only go through a Solicitor part of Resolution. ( Not ones who are going to be part of resolution but who are currently registered)

As i am going through a divorce and the STBX solicitor
is not part of Resolution and is not interested in a ammicable resolve but just making money on how long this process can be drawn out.

Resolution solicitors only - this should become LAW!!

BusyB:woohoo:

Couldn't agree more BusyB, a properly enforced Code of Practice would be great, unfortunately solicitors are unable to appoint a credible management structure and have no understanding of quality standards except when it comes to enforcing standards upon the rest of us.

Code Practice needs external auditing end of.

Once we have sued their arses for mall administration I suspect free market principles will ensure a properly audited quality system and complaints procedure.

I support Resolution in as far as the code of practice they set out, but I don't think it's fair to say a non-Resolution sol is just money grabbing.

I do have a Resolution sol. When this whole thing happened I did my research and chose carefully, as I wanted someone who would be realistic and brutally honest with me as to what I was actually facing. He has been, and has bent over backwards to keep costs down since there's not a lot of capital to fight over.

It's worth pointing out that a solicitor is instructed by the client, and whether they are a member of Resolution or not, sometimes it's the clients themselves who drive the costs up by not educating themselves as much as possible as to the procedure of divorce. Some people demand their sol write letters for every little thing, which racks up bills surprisingly fast.

Guess the key here is to educate ourselves as much as possible. Which is why we have Wiki, and thank goodness for that. :)

Resolution is a legal lobby group dressed up as an organization that promotes non acrimonious divorce.
The fact is that since their inception, and lets not forget they were once called "the solicitors family law association", they have never expelled a member for non conformance of their code of practice.
It beggars belief that not one solicitor has ever acted improperly in their LONG history.
I presented them evidence that one of their members LIED about all of his qualifications and evidence that he most likely misdirected a court and their response..... fours years ..... NOTHING.

Our politicians regulate themselves and look at the farcical situation there, the police are independently audited and before the velvet revolution ends lets hope the Legal Profession come under proper scrutiny and professional standards might once again be restored, failing that Arnie is hoping that somebody re-introduces the public stocks where corrupt solicitors can be properly dealt with by the people and families who have suffered from their corruption.

Of course the legal talking heads on Wiki will tell you corruption is only isolated and they are correct because the legal profession have the complaints procedure pretty much sown up in their favor, so only the extreme cases see the light of day, a bit like like 12 months ago all the Politicians would have told you the majority were honest and now we know truth!

Dont waste your time judging a solicitor on his/her patronage to which ever lobby group they are members of, judge them by what they say and what they do and remember you are just a cash cow in divorce and they don't care about you its just a job.

Arnie
