Hello all
I have a Consent Order which includes child maintenance payments for my child who is now 18.
Due to corona my working hrs are now less, therefore my pay is much less.
Am I entitled to pay less according to my reduced salary and how do I go about reducing the payments?
We are not on speaking terms btw.

Thanks for reading

Does the consent order specify a child age at which it stops? Normally when the child reaches 18 the child maintenance stops (as they are no longer a child) but I appreciate sometimes they go older.
How long has the consent order been in place? Normally child maintenance can be varied after a year. Maybe worth looking at CMS based on your current income though.

You'd have to go to court to vary the order. The child hasn't stopped eating or requiring a home as a result of corna virus, what would happen if your ex decided she couldn't afford to keep him/her ? This is a short term problem i'd just suck it up, the end is in sight one way or the other, no point in causing your child hardship and putting yourself through another court case for the sake of a few months surely ?
