My partner is currently in receipt of child maintenance from her ex. The child may go to boarding school. If she does the ex is likely to cut the maintenance on the basis the child is not resident full time at my partners and he is paying the school fees. Is there any guidance on how much (proportion) he can cut the child maintenance by? Part of the payment is recognition of the roof that the mother puts over the child's head. This will remain just not the everyday living costs.

thanks

It is possible to apply for a special expenses variation where the child is at a boarding school (not as a day boarder, but overnight boarder). See S66, The Child Support Maintenance Calculation Regulations 2012.
Annex B Boarding School Fees Variation.
