The first thing to do is to phone the court to check that what you have been told is correct. If it is correct you can either try to find a solicitor who can attend the hearing with you or go along on your own and ask for adjournment until you have had time to engage a solicitor.
Should the hearing go ahead it is usual to meet CAFCASS before seeing the judge to see if any agreement can be reached. When no agreement is reached the judge decides what information is required to assist him/her making a decision and sets a timetable for future hearing.
However, if the issue is urgent there may be a short hearing, an interim order made and an appointment made for another hearing to give you time to find a solicitor.
