Hi

Just been offered a new job, where they are going to pay me £3k a year car allowance on top of my salary.

As this will be put in my monthly wage packet in 12 month instalements, do i use this figure to work out the 15% CM figure or stay with the original salary figure

i would have thought it would be counted as salary!

why not ask your company to give you a higher per mile rate - instead of a car allowance? - this way its just expenses then.

I get my car allowance paid in my salary every month and as it is part of my "income" I pay 20% of my income including this?

Does your employer pay you a mileage allowance on top? How much per mile?

I also get paid a car allowance. I travel about 4k miles per year and my employer pays 13ppm. I claim the difference back from the tax man, I tried to claim this as a business expenses with the CSA but they rejected it.

I get a car allowance which is classed as salary so I pay 20% of it as CM and 13.5p per mile. I did 15K miles so I got a £1200 tax rebate on it - ex2b doesn't get any of the tax rebate

According to my solicitor this monthly paid car allowance should be excluded. I have one also. I guess that time and the CSA will tell who is right.
