I have just found out that my husband’s new girlfriend is expecting her second baby. We are still going through divorce proceedings, I have been told that out of my husbands salary first he can deduct 20% for his new baby, and then 20% for my two comes off his pay, does his 20% increase by them having another baby?

Thanks a million

Post edited by: anhow, at: 2007/05/15 23:55

As stated on the csa.gov.uk website:

Relevant other children
"If a non-resident parent has children living with them in their current family, we will use a lower amount of net weekly income in working out child maintenance. This is the non-resident parent's net income reduced by

- 15 per cent if there is one relevant child;
- 20 per cent for 2 relevant children; and
- 25 per cent for three or more relevant children "

You can find a link to this site near the top of our Top Divorce Sites page. There is a CSA calculator where you can quickly find out exactly the impact of another new baby (not as much as you might fear)
