Hi hope you can help?
I don''t own a car but baby dad does.
He pays minimum amount of child maintenance every month.
Do I have to provide for baby when with dad? And do I have to provide the car seat? I don''t have a car, walk everywhere so have no use for one.

If you have a car-seat that you don''t use, then it would sense for Dad to use it when he has the baby - not to mention that using a car seat is a safety issue. Surely the safety of your baby is the important issue, rather than who actually bought the car seat?

What does baby currently sit in when in Dad''s car?

If neither of you own a car-seat, then one needs to be bought asap - its a legal requirement.

If you dont need a car seat as you dont use a car with baby then I would think dad would have to provide one to use when he has child.

No, you don''t have to provide a seat, and it is wholly reasonsble to ask Dad to ensure that he does not take the baby anywhere in a car unless a suitable seat is available.

It is both a safety issue , and the law.

If you own a seat (from when you were together, or for use if you have lifts with friends) it''s not unreasonable to lend this to him to ensure that your child is safe while with him.

No you don''t have to provide (do you mean meals etc?) maintenance is adjusted depending on the number of nights with each parent if you are using CSA guidlines. This accounts for the fact that the other parent will be meeting the childs needs when he/she is with them.

Thank you for your feedback.
I have newborn car seat which is now too small for 9 month old.
Dad only sees baby once month (only twice so far this year, its going through court)
We now have no car seat, he''s told me to ''go and buy a car seat she fits into!''
I never have a use for a car seat we walk everywhere (say it again)
If I do have a lift they normally have 1 already in car for their own kids. If not we walk!

Of course the safety of my baby is more important than anything else! I never asked for your criticism nor for you to put me down as stupid or selfish regarding my little girl. I asked on who should purchase it and if he doesn''t get 1 then she''s going nowhere.
