Child Benefit is paid for children up until the age of 20 if they are in full time "non advanced education." BTEC courses qualify as non advanced. See;

and

At the moment a child continuing full time non advanced education qualifies for child support until the age of 19 under CSA rules. However, there is a change in the regulations due to be implemented this year to bring the CSA rules in line with CB so the maximum age for child maintenance will rise to 20 years.
