hi

Im due to give up work to look after my new son. I have a 10 year old daughter from a previous relationship for which i pay regular maintenance payments.
As i will have no income how will i be expected to keep up with these payments? Will the csa take money from my wife?

No. CM is assessed on your income only.

CSA can take a maximum of £5 per week from JSA, and they can deduct it before it touches your account if they need to.

They can also take £1 per week extra if you have arrears.

This information was correct 2 years ago, but may have changed since then.

the OP has stated he wont'' be working but bringing up another child. As such, the CSA won''t be able to do anything for his other child. Very sad.

thanks for all your comments, been a great help. I was worried they would send bailiffs round to take what they could...
Ive never ever missed a payment and paid over the odds even when we have been struggling ourselves. Now that we have a new son and my wife being the only bread winner times are evn harder.
Maybe i could get weekend work to help keep up the payments.
