Your ex is in a difficult position because of the moral argument. From a child''s perspective hearing a mother say "the dishwasher is broken again and your dad is spending all his money on his new floosy" is not something they can rationalise.

My kids regularly ask for stuff and then tell me their mum has told them to ask me. I don''t know if this is true or not, but it is very hard to say no.

But if he is already paying more than he should, he needs to start saying no.

And i need to heed my own advice. It causes a lot of friction with my new partner!
