Hi,

I am in court tomorrow for the first Directions hearing.

Any good advice, tips would be great?

The case is for a contact order for more contact.

Thanks in advance

- Remember that the primary consideration is ''what is in the best interests of the child(ren)'' so make sure that that is your focus. Consider any proposals from your child''s perspective, not your own, or your ex''s convenience.

- be flexible - I''m sure you know what you would ideally like, but go with an open mind and prepared to listen to other suggstions.

- bear in mind that unless you are able to come to an agreement, the court won''t be making a final decision at the first appointment

- stay calm. Make notes to remind you of any key issues, take notes so you have a record of what was siad and what (if any) agreement was reachd or order made.

- be aware that courts can, and often will, propose mediation and Separated Parenting courses, especially if you did not do those when the original order /agreement was made. Don''t see this is a critisism of you or your parenting - it''s normal practice, and can often be useful even if you don''t expect them to be!
