Parental contact during covid 19 pandemic

Really could do with some advice. My ex of 12 years had demanded to have my son this weekend during this pandemic, pick up 7pm Friday and return lunchtime Sunday. He moved away so it will be a 3 hour drive each way . My son is 16 yrs old and really wants to go. His dad has very little contact normally and has not seen him since December and only twice during last year. I have never refused contact when he demands it at very short notice. He is living with another women and will not give me the address. he is working from home and she is working in health care. It has come to light she also has 2 children who also go to there dads. I have asked for him to wait until the current health situation improves to avoid the spread. My son and I have been extremely careful and I shop for vulnerable people only and i am furloughed from work.
Am I being unreasonable in wanting to protect my son? I have bubbled with my partner who I have not seen for 3 months. I'm very distressed so any advice would help. Thank you.

The Government advice is to allow children under the age of 18 to continue to move between thier two homes/ parents' homes (unless someone in one of the households is showing symptoms of Covid-19 or has tested positive for it). Your son is 16, really wants to see his Dad, hasn't seen him in a long time. You aren't being unreasonable in wanting to protect your son, but he may see not being allowed to see his Dad as unreasonable. He may also just go and see his Dad anyway!

So legally he is able to demand that he sees him as and when he wants disregarding the safety of our sons health and taking him onto a household where there are 4 other people coming and going. Is there any order that can be made so he has regular contact so we all know where we stand? I am fed up with him accusing me of not letting him see him when he demands to see him at such short notice regardless of we have plans which I don't want to or can't cancel. It really upsets my son. I guess I will have to let him go and face the consequences. Regarding the address, should he legally provide the address of where he is staying? Many thanks

At 16, it is very unlikely that a court would make an order in respect of your son. He is of an age where he will have clear wishes, and a mature understanding of the situation and is able to make decisions about where he want to spend his time.

In any case, a court order can't compel a parent to spend time with a child, it can only regulate a child's time with each parent.

There's no legal requirement for him to tell you where he is living. it is reasonable to expect to be told that information, but he's not required to do so.
