Hello, I am awaiting final hearing for child custody. Both parent are equally good in caring son but mother's case is slightly stronger. Mother wants Legal custody as "JOINT" but Residential custody to herself for 5 nights a week. The purpose of Joint legal custody is that mother wants Father to do all school works or outdoor works etc.
Can English court give different Legal or Residential custody order. I thought it is american concept?

Custody is not the term used these days. It is shared care and there may be a 'lives with' order for the parent with the majority of care if the shared care is not 50:50. The court will make its decision in the best interests of the child(ren).
