School Rules was created by CaptainB
Sorry to be a burden in asking. Last week I asked my son's new school when they do school photo's for parents I am NRP. I was told 6 weeks ago and to why I was not informed of this happening as previously requested. There is no court order to stop me and as far as I am aware it is part of a schools unbiased position to be fair on both parties of RP and NRP and that the RP cannot dictate to the school the the NRP is not to be given school photos unless there is a court order in place for whatever reason. Can anyone enlighten me on this and someone been down same road?

Most schools these day have a school website and weekly news letters are posted there. It is then up to the parent to read it there. Some schools also additionally give out paper copies weekly so it would be up to your child to pass these on to you.
Check out the school website it should also have a calendar of important dates that you need to know about. This will keep you up to date with your child's school .
If you have your child after school I would suggest you check their school bag / book bag.

I assume you are male and PWC is female?

Write to the Head Teacher and Chair of Governors complaining that they are sexually discriminating against you by not sending you the same communications.

That will probably focus their attentions and they will post you paper copies or ensure your child has a copy to give you.

You say it's your son's new school , so they are possibly unfamiliar with the precise detail of family arrangements. I appreciate you had asked to be kept informed, but requesting that in future you are kept in the loop is not unreasonable. Do you believe that your ex had instructed that you were not to receive photographs?

You are correct, schools cannot adopt a stance between parents and most will try very hard to inform both, but they are busy places and it doesn't follow that all staff know the detail of every family situation, so I doubt it was anything other than an oversight and it shouldn't happen again.

I agree with Mitchum, sounds like an oversight and the school just needs reminding. I would ask them if they use parentmail (it's an online communication portal a lot of schools use to communicate with parents). But you have to register and get a log-in from the school and then you will get electronic notifications about all communication sent out about your child. I.e trips, clubs, sats and photos!

I thank all 3 of you for your recent replies. This is the information I am after. The resident parent has actually instructed the school not to process any photographs of my son whether it be for school year for parents or any other matter. However from what I know this cannot be possible to instruct the school for myself being NRP not to receive them. There is no court order in place saying I can't and all the school is doing atm is biasing me from what I am legitematly entiltled to. Am I right?
