Thanks for all the advice. I did receive legal advice, free half hour which turned into 90 mins. The court recommended an 80/20 split of the equity and my wife has agreed diminishing mortgage payments on my part over a 6 month period so I will end up paying 20% of the mortgage and my wife the rest. A great suggestion by the solicitor and I recommend others use the same approach in order to protect your equity.
