Beneficial rights??? was created by Roverite95
Hi all, newbie here seeking help!

I have been cohabiting with my partner for the past 18 months although the relationship has been in existence for the past 7 years. I contribute to all the household bills and wondered if this provides me with any rights to the property which is held solely in my partners name? The property is owned outright so there is no mortgage associated.

Any help appreciated as we are going through a sticky patch & im scared I will be left with nothing

Unless a cohabitant pays the mortgage or for home improvements it's difficult to establish a beneficial interest, particularly if the cohabitation only lasted 18 months. If there are children it may be possible to make a claim under the Children's Act to help with housing children during their dependency.

There are no children. I also run a business from this address. Would that give me some rights?
