Separated under the same roof? was created by JustAnotherGuy
I have been married for 24 years, but we started to grow apart. Stayed together for our daughter, now and uni. We have agreed in principle to split up now. For the last ten years we have slept in separate bedrooms so can we say we have been separated for more than two years and do straight to divorce? Or do we need to live at different addresses for two years? Neither wants to cite unreasonable behaviour and there is no adultery . A bit of guidance would be useful.
Thanks

If you have lived separate lives ie cooked separately, done your own washing etc, you can be separated while under the same roof.

If not you could use the mildest possible UB grounds that you can both agree on. Alternatively you could have separate residences and wait two years if there is no urgent imperative to divorce. Yours is a long marriage so it won't make any difference to the finances. You could always get a separation agreement drawn up that you can use as the basis of a consent order when you do divorce.
