My now ex partner moved into my house about 3 years ago.
I have paid the bills and mortgage with no major contribution from him over this time. He has a drink problem but is never physically violent but on occasion can be verbally nasty. He can't he hold a job down. I've had enough and want him to move out but he wont.
As I had the house before he came along and he hasn't made any major financial contribution to the bills does he have any rights to my property? as he refuses to move out.
How can i get him to leave, do i need a court order or a solicitors letter to do so.
I am not sure of my legal rights in this situation.
Thanks

If he's not on the deeds, there's no rental agreement, no rent book, and he's not paid rent on a regular basis then he's there as your guest. You can ask him to leave at any time.

Does he have anywhere else to go? Can he afford to get a place of his own?

it's worth speaking to a solicitor about your options and how to remove him from the property.

Hi .Sylvia,
No hes not on the deeds, rent book nor paid rent on a regular basis.
He doesn't have any where else to go but he does have some money of his own in the bank and could afford to get some where else.
thanks for the advise, i shall contact a solicitor for more advise.
