My ex and I broke up, we have a baby together. We are not married.
I live in his property he is trying to force a sale.
He has 3 other properties, he's pretending he's skint and hiding money.
What are my rights?
He initially says I could stay in the property, but now thinks I should leave and rent somewhere, I'm working part-time and he pays hardly any money for the child, so this isn't feasible.
Would love to know your views- thank you in advance.
As you were not married there is no other financial help you can claim from him.
If the property is in his sole name it is property law that applies and you would get nothing from it unless you can show a beneficial interest. Taking a case to court may be costly; unlike in family law whoever loses pays the costs for both sides.
It is possible to use the Children Act to allow you to stay in the house until your child is 18 but this is not a certainty. You should seek legal advice.
