Hi
Bare facts first.
divorved for 14 months.
still living under same roof
financial settlement not agreed
daughter age16 1/2 wants to live with dad when all sorted.
He has given me a pile of bills that cover this year and some of last, also the divorce bill that he applied for total almost £3,000
then i get a letter in post that i had to sign for today, saying that after repeated requests, i HAVE NOT HAD ONE as we dont talk at all, he has given me 14 days to settle my half of these bill that are all paid in full, and if i cant settle i must write to him at a c/o address so he can assist me in settlement of my debt, My solicitor told me last year not to pay to live in my own home. I have not done so. I work p/t and take home £72 pw. I cannot pay this. I feel his next move will be small claims court. he has done this all off his own bat, where do i stand, i only did what my solicitor told me to do, there are no court orders etc, its just him getting at me once again. He is 69 yo and gets pension and benefits and child allowance.

probably need a bit more information. what were these bills for? If you live in the same house you are jointly responsible for rent/mortgage or a contribution at least.

If your solicitor told you not to pay, then still don''t pay. You are clearly unable to. Ask your solicitor what to do. I am sure he can''t get this through the small claims court as your finances aren''t settled.

Was he awarded the costs in the divorce by the court? If not, he can''t expect you to pay them. Even if he was, the expectation is that they would be paid at the end out of your settlement, not now.

Best wishes,
Sadie

Hello
The divorce was just that, Nothing has been put in writing at all, no descisions from court he is just trying to wear me down, but as I know him he will try the small claims. I have sent the paperwork to my solicitor and i am waiting for his reply.
many thanks for your help
