Separation and Self Employed Businesses was created by Anoneemau5
I need to start thinking about separating from my husband. We’ve been together 23 years and married 12, and it’s become totally untenable - I can’t live with him any more, and home with me.
We are both self employed with our own respective businesses online, and work out of the same building which we both own (it’s part of the joint home).
If we separate and move to divorce, how would the businesses be looked at? They’re not limited companies, and stock/raw materials/assets are shared. The profits are our incomes.
If I moved out, I couldn’t run my business any more, so I would have no income. I am prepared to walk away from my business if it simplifies things.
It’s the one thing which I can’t move forward with in my head. If it was just the house, it would be straight forward.
Hope I haven’t rambled.
Thanks

Hard to say without knowing more about the businesses.

They are run seperately?

If that is the case why can't one, or both, of them be relocated?

If you walk away from your business what will you do about work?
