Our marriage is over but due to financial issues mainly housing we still live in the same house. basically we pass each other in the evening then i go to my bedroom.
the main reason why we are still like this is due to housing as we are in our late 50's and getting another mortgage will not be easy. In addition my husband has a lot of health problems.
However i want a divorce, i want my freedom and more importantly i want to ensure that my adult children by my first marriage do not miss out on their inheritance if i should die. I have written a will but my husband still gets my half of the house if i die.
is is possible to be legally registered as separated even though we are still in the same house? the house is not even up for sale yet as neither of us have anywhere else to go. how can i protect my children's inheritance ?
