What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

My partner''s draft Consent Order was sent to court around 6 weeks ago, and the £45 cheque for the fee cleared around 4 weeks later. He hasn''t heard anything from the court or his solicitor, does anyone have experience of how long it takes after the fee has cleared?

Most seem to seal them in 2-4 weeks, one is taking 12 weeks right now.

Its best to call the court and ask, really only they can give you an idea.

Thanks, I was just trying to find the number but the court finder service isn''t working :( hmctscourtfinder.justice.gov.uk/HMCTS/

I thought that since the fee had cleared it must mean they''ve looked at it by now.
