What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi everyone,
I am writing on behalf of my son, supporting and trying to help him.
His wife walked out on him 4 months ago and it is common knowledge that she left for someone else.
She has initiated divorce proceedings and my son decided to not contest it as he finds it v difficult and can not afford any extra expense.
She is claiming the court costs against him which is grossly unfair in the circumstances. Would any one recommend going to court to explain to the judge why it would be so unfair for him to pay costs?
Thank you! Any help is much appreciated. x
