What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

I''m going to be cross examined as part of a financial final hearing. I''d like to be able to either write down the question being asked on paper or type it on my laptop, I can touch type. There are various reasons I''d like to be able to do this but is it allowed in court and if it''s not generally could I ask permission beforehand ?

Thanks,

Naz.

Ask permission from the Judge or get a transcript of the hearing afterwards.

You can take your own notes and you don''t have to ask the judge. I also had a solicitor who took a lap top into court. If you ask the court usher they will tell you whether you can take one into the court or ask the judge.

You can get transcripts but you have to pay and they aren''t cheap.
