What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Serving Form E and getting a receipt?

Just read through several pages of the Court Forum to ''gen up'' on form E and the whys and wherefores of exchanging it with the other party.

I can see that the smart money is on submitting it to the court on time (no problem there and am happy to do this handover).

But submitting it to the SBTX on time seems unfair when they have said they won''t give me their copy.

I know they will be the ones in trouble with the court but still it is annoying!!

* Anyway my actual question is how can I prove I''ve submitted the Forn E to both the court and the SBTX?

* is it better to serve the SBTX personally or go to their solicitor?

Can I get a receipt for my copies?

thank you for your help

I would submit it to court on time you can take it in personally but may need to make an appointment.

As for exchanging them i would contact his solicitor to say that you have submitted it to court and await their confirmation of submission to court and mutual exchange of Form E''s dont give it to the ex deal with the solicitor

Thank you driven40

The court doesn''t offer a counter service but does have a secure post box so was going to put my Form E in that.

That''s an interesting way of arranging the swop between ourselves then - getting the solicitor to confirm they had done the court submission first. What would happen if they didn''t get back to me until the submission date had passed, dragging me into their ''late'' game?

The SBTX''s solicitor office is close enough to hand deliver the Form E to - or is it better to post it using Registered Post to confirm delivery?

(I don''t really trust the SBTX or their solicitor and so am trying to get proof that I have done my part in this)

Deadline for Form E submission is looming.

If the ex isn''t ready to submit and asks me for a new exchange date can I still submit the Form to the court on time and then exchange with the SBTX at a later date?

Or does the Court want all copies to be filed with all parties on the same date?

Thank you
