What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Cliff notes version:

He is in San Francisco, I am in Alabama. We have 3 children together. He left for SF july 2016. I filed the intent to divorce sept 2015. It took until march 2016 to get him served with paperwork. He waited until the day my divorce would have gone into default to request a divorce agreement be sent to him so he could sign it. We sent it to him, of which he refused to sign stating he didnt like the terms. I have a temp hearing for child support and custody on may 18,2016 with a final hearing aug 11, 2016. My question is. If I notify him of the final divorce hearing (with proof that I have done so) 2.5 months in advance. Will that prevent him from being able to ask for the default hearing to be postponed? I plan on making him aware of the final divorce hearing after the temp hearing has been completed. He had drug his feet so bad already and threatened to get an attorney, of which to date he has not done (despite having plenty of $ to have done so). My biggest fear is that he will wait until the week of the hearing to seek legal counsel, just so he can delay it out.
