What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I am quite correct in what I stated and I was a litigant in person so was dealing with everything personally. The District Judge following the enforcement hearing sent a copy of the order whereby it said - my solicitor should sign in my ex's place if he did not comply after 7 days. Initially the solicitor refused, I wrote to the judge informing her of the situation.Within a matter of days the solicitor had signed after being ordered directly by the judge.

thats interesting, thanks. My daughter has a solicitor for the property transfer, but I think this enforcement will be ok for us to do ourselves.I suppose if there is a Consent Order in place, then signing by a legal is just a formality. Its very frustrating though when people play these mind games.

So... we fill in the form and send it to the court with the necessary fee?
