What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I would appreciate any thoughts in this please...

My STBX and I are in agreement financially. We paid a fixed fee for a solicitor to draft a Consent Order and sent it to court with all related documents required.

The court refused the consent order on the basis that part of the consent order "does not make sense and seems something is missing" ....

I am just wondering what's the best way to deal with this situation, and also whether I need to pay the £50 court fee again when (eventually) resumit the amended consent order again.

Many thanks

I didn't have to pay any extra when I resubmitted my rejected consent order as it stood, neither did I have to pay any costs when ex and I had to appear before a judge to explain why we were happy with what we had agreed, all it cost was time.
