What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi all, I'm in a rare position (for me) in that CAFCASS have actually sided with me in a S7 report! No doubt the infamous Mike Lisser is undertaking an internal review to make sure this never happens again, LOL! Anyway, we have a contested final hearing coming up, and I'm not sure what if anything I should do in terms of cross-examining CAFCASS in the actual hearing - should I ask a couple of questions about their findings just to tease out the highlights that help my case, or shall I no ask questions at all? Presumably the other side is likely to want to spend some time trying to pull apart the CAFCASS evidence so I want to help shore them up if possible. Any thoughts or advice much appreciated, thanks!

Hi All,

Just by way of an update - I asked a few questions just to tease out particular points that I felt needed emphasising or that hadn't been considered. In particular I highlighted how much time the FCA had spent on the case. The other side did try to pull apart the FCA's evidence but this didn't get anywhere and she was well defended by the barrister they appointed.
