What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

27 mths on and at long last a judge who can make a sensible and measured judgement, but I am not sure the outcome would have been achieved without a fantastic, passionate and focused barrister! !
As you will see from my previous post, the other side wanted my mother's (still alive and kicking mother )potential future assets to be taken into consideration, the judge decided that after 32 years of marriage that everything should be split 50,50 with a pso.
And any future assets to be protected, they are already placed in trust and I am not the only potential beneficiary.

Some sound advice from my Barrister, do NOT try to be clever when being questioned by the other side. ..answer with a yes,no or a more specific answer, not sure his Barrister advice the same, stbx attitude was obtuse, arrogant and couldn't lie straight in bed on the day. This did not go down well with DDJ or my Barrister.
Any way there is hope for all, onwards and upwards, time to move on.....
