What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I just have been informed that my court hearing will be conducted over the phone. I worry about such procedure, as I am not very good with phone conversations. I often relay on lip reading and not seeing the person makes me disoriented. Are there any grounds, on which i could ask for postponing the Hearing until it will be possible to have a face to face procedure?

Hello Scarletta

Welcome to Wikivorce.

Are you hearing-impaired? I suggest you explain this to the court and enquire about having a video link rather than an audio link. If that isn't possible, explain you will need a textphone link, than than an audio link.

What hearing is it? Postponing it would only delay matters significantly.
