What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

I have a Decree Absolute and a Consent Order going through the BSE court. I know a few months ago there was a 20 week lead time to get consent orders back but I also read that Nightingale courts had been opened to help with the backlog. Does anyone have any more recent information on how long these are taking to process?

Thanks!!

The NIghtingale Courts only opened last week and as yet, I've not heard anything about the efficiency (or lack of!) of these courts.

Do you know if court cases for financial remedy are going ahead in person or it is all via video link? My final hearing is set for 6th October 2020.

Thank you

Thank you for this information. My decree nisi application was filed on 21 July. Still no news on it. Is it possible for me to check the status directly, or does it have to be my solicitor (who charges me for every e-mail).
