What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello all,

As an overview.

I am helping a person going through a variation as a Makenzie friend as they are struggling financially and mentally to get through it.

We are at the stage between the FDA (which couldn't be attended due to anxitey) and a FDR in the next few weeks.

form E 's have been shared.

Questions have been raised on both sides and answers are due soon.

Some questions seem odd and there are an awful lot of them.
Q1 Do they all need to be answered ? Are there instances where a question is not relevant ?
Q2 When answers and subsequent documents are received, if the answers are not clear, when can this be followed up with subsequent questions. There doesn't seem to be a date in the court schedule for this, is that only at the FDR ?
Q3 What is the best way to prepare for a FDR. Is there a checklist anywhere that could be followed.

Many thanks,
