What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

I would really appreciate an URGENT answer to a question.

My ex and myself have agreed a financial settlement and wish to cancel the first hearing. (have it vacated)

1 Is it standard to have this on the form to cancel the first hearing?

"UPON the parties agreeing to use their best efforts to file a signed consent ordewith a completed D81 within 14 days."

thanks

Court orders have a lot of generic, standard text added.Given your in a pace of consensual agreement I'd observe you have the option to take your written agreement (draft Consent Order) to the court hearing and get your consent order rubbed stamped
