I have just read the article posted by Charles which is very informative.
As someone trying to do a DIY divorce how do i go about getting the Respondant to pay half the costs of the actual Petition and decree. In the prayer section of the D8 there is a section to claim costs however it does not identify which costs or what percentage. Is there a separate form i need for this.

Hi Vivi,

My ex and I went the DIY route and we agreed between us that we would split the costs 50/50. I wrote this on the Petition and forwarded him the Court Fees leaflet showing the initial amount for the Petition and the fee for the Decree Absolute. Probably best to have him pay cheque or electronic transfer as there is no audit trail on cash.
