What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My stb ex husband (Petitioner) and his solicitor agreed that no costs would be made against me (respondent) for our divorce. Decree Nisi was granted last week, but judge awarded costs to me! Can/How do I appeal against this when I have written proof from ex''s solicitor that they agreed not to claim costs?? I am self repping.

I would be so grateful for some advice..:(

If you have an agreement that they would not seek costs and your doing this alone just write to court with the evidence.

The other side should have removed the costs claim at Decree Nisi, its probably just an oversight.
