What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Long awaited FDR day

Im going in!!! I hope to get resolve but I am not optimistic. Overall- I am calm. I have Absolute faith in my barrister and if it goes to FH, so be it. The sun is shining and I spent 3 hours with ALL my kids yesterday. What could possibly go wrong today.

Update on my return

Update; both sides read proposals and arguments.

Judge indicated wife was very far from the mark and gave clear instruction- saying my offer was very fair on all accounts.

2 hours later and she hasn''t budged. Utter waste of time. Going back in but see no point as rbs will go to FH

Not an utter waste of time. The judge has indicated that your ex is unrealistic, that''s a good thing. She won''t accept it straight away, after all she''s dug herself into this position for many months now, but between now and FH she will no doubt start to negotiate. She is probably very angry and upset right now that all those things she thought was her ''right'' aren''t so.
You should be pleased that the judge has supported your proposal as this should give you the strength to stand firm on your offer :)
