What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi NWTT
yes you are right: HOW and WHY does the legal system let people like this get away with it?
Regardless about who was responsible for the end of the marriage I can honestly say I have followed the correct procedure 100% to get justice over the last year whilst she has shown contempt for it all....and not just got away with it has ended up with a result beyond what she could ever expected.

And now, buoyed by her success with civil matters, she''s attempting again to cause me issues on the criminal side of things....
I''m just waiting to hear from the boys in blue to see if they, like the Courts, are taking her latest lies seriously or not. Based on everything that I''ve experienced I''m expecting the worse....

Hi QPR,

I also had spurious allegations made by the ex to the boys in blue!

I developed trigeminal neuralgia which is often a response to extreme stress, it is excruciatingly painful and requires high dose carbamazepine to control the pain. I had been on it for 5 days and was so knocked out by it that I was unable to stand.

It was 3am when I was woken with a flash light in my face and the boys in blue surrounding my bed. I have never been as terrified in my life, they had come to arrest me!

The exh had contacted the police, told them the OW was hysterical because I had been at their house brandishing a gun and that he wanted me sectioned under the mental health act and locked away.

The boys in blue were wonderful, it was obvious I could not stand, let alone drive 7 miles. They did everything they could to protect me and the charges were dropped but had to follow procedure so it took time. My ex is a GP so they treated him with utter contempt and to this day they keep a watchful eye on my safety. I hope your experience with them is as positive as mine.

Take care,
NWTT x

well, i am very naive and believed in his good intentions until nearly got thrown out the house so he could keep everything that we have ( read he as all that we have is in his name and this is why we are in court). Luckily my solicitor was good and acted quickly but I am sick of those dirty nasty games. And it is just starting... most amazing is that what i find as unreasonabale beyond belief he finds truly fair and reasonable. Give you and example.
Only in the UK there are 3 cars ( including 2 seater sports car) and 1 of them I have been using as mine. The court granted me USE of a car AT ALL TIMES. Rather that granting me use of one of the vehicles ex decided to get another car knowing that parking in our area is restricted and without vouchers I would not able to park during the weekend. The closes place to park is 25 min away which walking with 3 SMALL children is completely unreasonable. I have not got access to vouchers – he says it is my problem to park. The car is 15 years old. has big rusty wholes in body work, rust all over, broken, missing mirror on passanger side and ripped tyres. Ex claimes is perfectly fine as passed MOT and truly believes that the court would grant him keeping all 5 other cars and leave me with what he unreasonably purchased. And this is his daily behaviour...
