What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

if at the latest hearing someone is told to do something by a certain date..then the hearing is listed for a week after the deadline to check they have done it. what happens if they do it say after the deadline but before the court date?

Depends what it is and whether their failure to meet the deadline has any consequences.
Realistically a lot of the time nothing will happen.

4 years ago was ordered to pay a lump sum or house would be sold, after failed promises of re mortgages and it going back to court on 4 occasions, the last judge said prove that it is up for sale send me the contract with the estate agent and proof of pics etc and that we both have to agree a price, they were v close to awarding sole conduct, but have listed it again for next week so that he can prove this has been done the deadline has passed for the date........they had to do it by the 12th ie today is listed for hearing again next week, last hearing 2 weeks ago....I wondering if they email me in the meantime saying they have done it do i leave it at that or say they have broken the deadline? thanks!

If it were me I would use it as further evidence of why I should be given sole conduct of the sale and be able to manage it.
