What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Would appreciate any input regards forms and Scottish Family Law.
All the Forms I have heard about and viewed do not appear to apply in Scotland....and if they do...no sol has ever mentioned their use to me....it appears these forms can prevent procrastinated situations like mine

In Scotland the only forms currently available are for divorce using the simplified procedure. Almost everyone here uses solicitors because going to court involves writs, summonses, schedules etc which need to be worded in such a way they are acceptable to the Court.

Thanks Fiona. My early experiences with sols were a constant bleating of "lacking in specification" on the day we all arrived at court. Looking back I realise that these were stalling tactics by x2bs sol and my then sols lack of attention to detail.
