What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello everyone!

If anyone has self-repped or been through a final hearing could they please enlighten me as to what goes into "evidence-in-chief"?

All responses gratefully received.

Thanks

Thanks Dukey,

I am the applicant. I have a direction from the court to serve my xtb with my evidence-in-chief so I suppose that is a list of the facts I shall be relying on in my application to the court for financial settlement?

How much detail is supposed to be given? I presume it is a list such as an up to date resume of assets, income and needs and anything else considered relevant.

Has anyone been through this?

All replies cheerfully acknowledged!
