What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

hello all, my partner and his stbx income and jobs are the same, in fact with working tax credits, maintenance etc she earns more, we have had nothing but hassle from start to finish with my partner not able to see his child (10 months of legal nightmare and 10 thousand pounds legal bills) we expect more of the same, hindsight is a wonderful thing huh! not feeling at all confident as she has lied in court before on several occassions and can see her doing the same again. this will just be another episode in her kicking both our butts.Court date tomorrow

very unhappy loobylu

Hi looby

I have had problems with my x. I had to go to court like you just to gain access, and she has also been lying in court. She did not want me to take my daughter on holiday so decided to tell the judge that her baby (with new partner) was due while we would be on holiday (August), judge saw through her and decided to ring the hospital to confirm dates, to which the baby was confirmed as arriving in October, some 2 months after the date she gave us!! So i can sympathise.
I have just had my Decree Nisi confirmed as 1st April :P(says it all really!!!) and are now starting the long procedure of AR, with no doubt, more lies......

Good luck and I hope it all goes well for you.

I find it hard not seeing my Daughter but hold onto the thought, that when she is old enough, (she is 3) my daughter will chose to be with me and my x can do nothing about it, a very long wait but it will be worth it in the end.
