What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

FDR is on the 13th July ....what needs to be done and submitted before the hearing?

form E''s were finally exchanged 6 weeks ago yet despite my asking, my solicitor hasnt asked me for questions arising from my STBX Form E which is very worrying to say the least. Also I understand I have to produce a Chronology but do not know exactly what this is to contain and again my solicitor has not told me.

All and any help greatfully received.

Is this your first hearing? It sounds from your post as if it might be. If so, it probably won''t be an FDR. Surely if you have a solicitor, it''s his/ her job to prepare the documents?

Previous solicitor was terrible so prepared my own form E and went to Court where STBX
turned up but had not prepared his form E.

Judge was visibly miffed and said he was going to treat as first hearing giving STBX 14 days within which to submit form E or risk jail. He also told me to get representation which I did only to land at another useless solicitors office who since taking me on has done sweet FA.

Called Court this morning and was given date of FDR and told that they had notified my solicitor on 13th of this month.

Todate absolutely zero from new solicitor despite me contacting her yesterday asking when was I going to see her to prepare questions, chronology etc. and what was date of FDR. She replied merely saying she will contact me soon.

Are you publicly funded? Did you get any recommendation as to what solicitor to use from anyone?
