What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

You don''t need to respond to the questionnaire before the first hearing, there''s nothing to stop you responding if you want to. If there are questions that are controversial or you don''t want to answer the judge will give Directions regarding which questions must be answered.

Hi

Tets is right, that is exactly what happened at my first appointment. the Judge looked at our questionnaires, directed that we should both answer each other''s questions and gave a deadline date for the same to be done. I sent my answers in time for the deadline and filed a copy at court and stbx answered my questionnaire about two weeks late

By the by, don''t expect too much from the first appointment, mine lasted all of 2 minutes !!

Kind regards
