I have just had the date for hearing of my Decree Nisi in court, which is in 2 days time. However after more discussion between my wife and myself, we think we may have made the biggest mistake of our life! YES I KNOW!!!!!!
Is it possible for the decree Nisi to still go through but for us to susspend divorce proceedings without the Decree Absolute being submitted? Or is this something that automatically takes place 6 weeks after the Nisi has been granted?

No the pettioner must apply for the absolute. They can do this 6 weeks and 1 day after the nisi was granted. If you dont apply for the absolute then you cannot be divorced. Nothing much happens realy but they will wonder why you havent applied for it. The pettioner can cancel the divorce process and thats that. In writing I think. The idea of nis and absolute is to allow couples such as yourselves a cooling of period so that it gives you time to think about what you are both doing. Good luck to you both and I hope things work out. Chris
