What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

I am back from my travels over the Xmas and New year, Hope everyone had good festivities.

I am now awaiting my Nisi, all the paperwork has been done but my solicitors knew I had a time frame to work to (I am getting re-married) and they delayed it getting back to the courts.

I have written a letter asking for the Nisi to be hurried through, but is there any way you can have the absolute expedited or do I have to wait the full 6 weeks?

Jx

Minimum wait to APPLY for the absolute after receiving the Nisi is 6 weeks and 1 day, they won't budge on that.

From applying could take another month or two!!!!!

Thanks, yeah found out the hard way!

they won't budge on the 28th Jan for the Nisi, could have had the 21st but the Judge ruled the 28th was ok, but that has left us between a rock and a hard place! lol
