What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Been browsing through a short while, and I'm not sure if I'm among peers here, as I'm youngish (27) and only been married a short while (months not years) and have no children.

So just out of curiosity:

How old are you and how long you've been (or were) married?

I am even younger (40) and was married ... like ... forever (17 years).

One son aged 15.

My biggest life question:...

- Do i do it all again (20 year marriage more kids)??

- Or do i live as a bachelor from aged 40 to 60?

I'm over 21 and was married for 20 years. Children were 11 and 15 when we separated and I think I probably hold the record of almost 5 years to negotiate divorce. Even my lawyer was sick of the sight of me!
